Dr. Sheikh Salman Hassan received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES), Pakistan, in 2017, and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering from Kyung Hee University, South Korea, in 2024. He is currently a Research Associate at the Institute for Imaging, Data and Communications (IDCoM), University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, where he works on artificial intelligence and machine learning for next-generation wireless systems. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Networking Intelligence Laboratory, Kyung Hee University, focusing on federated learning and AI-enabled resource management for space–air–ground integrated networks.
His research interests include artificial intelligence and machine learning for communications and networking, including reinforcement and multi-agent learning, federated and distributed learning, and semantic communication, with applications in 6G non-terrestrial networks, satellite–terrestrial integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), and hybrid classical–quantum techniques for future connectivity. He has published extensively in leading IEEE journals and conferences, with several papers recognized as among the most popular in their respective venues. He holds a granted U.S. patent, along with additional patent filings.
Dr. Hassan serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Internet of Things Journal and as a Guest Editor and editorial board member for international journals. He regularly reviews for leading journals and conferences published by IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, Wiley, IET, and MDPI. He is open to research collaborations, joint projects, and interdisciplinary partnerships.
