Wael Jaafar (S’08, M’14, SM’20) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Software and IT Engineering at the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), University of Quebec, Montréal, Canada. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Polytechnique Montréal and was an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at Carleton University from 2019 to 2022. Prior to academia, he worked in the telecommunications industry, designing communication solutions for projects in Canada and internationally. Dr. Jaafar has held visiting research appointments at Khalifa University, Keio University, and UQAM. His research focuses on wireless communications, integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, edge computing and caching, AI for communications, autonomous systems, and cybersecurity. He is the recipient of several prestigious scholarships, grants, and best paper awards.
