Biography:

Mona Jaber (Senior Member, IEEE) is currently a Reader in the Internet of Things (IoT) with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London. Her research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and IoT in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, including IoT-driven digital twins.

She secured the prestigious EPSRC New Investigator Award for a project entitled Distributed Acoustic Sensor System for Modelling Active Travel, in which she investigates machine learning methods for processing optical fibre signals that represent active travel.

She is the founder and director of the Digital Twins for Sustainable Development Goals (DT4SDG) Research Laboratory at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). Mona is also the Head of the Centre for Networks, Communications and Systems at QMUL and the Secretary of the IEEE UK and Ireland Section for the 2025–2026 term.

Interests:
Usage of IoT/Machine Learning/Digital Twins for addressing sustainable development goals including smart cities, intelligent transportation, responsible energy consumption, ehealth, and data privacy.
