Dr. Imad Barhumi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium, in 2005.

His research spans signal processing, computational imaging, inverse problems, wireless communications, and artificial intelligence. In recent years, his work has focused on photoacoustic tomography, developing efficient image reconstruction algorithms using compressive sensing, plug-and-play priors, algorithm unrolling, transfer learning, and diffusion models for biomedical imaging.

He has published more than 80 refereed papers in journals and conferences, including articles in IEEE Transactions journals, Signal Processing, Scientific Reports, Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, and IEEE Access. He has also served as Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at UAEU and as a reviewer and editorial board member for several leading international journals.
