Crystal M. Kelly, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist and Assistant Director of the CAP-accredited Biobank at the Chan Soon-Shiong Institute of Molecular Medicine at Windber. Her work focuses on biospecimen science, biobank quality management and operations, translational oncology, and developing patient-derived organoid and microtissue models. She supports multidisciplinary cancer research through pathology-informed specimen selection, molecular data integration, and quality-controlled workflows designed to strengthen reproducibility and clinical relevance. Dr. Kelly's research background encompasses breast cancer biology, DNA-damage-response pathways, primary cell culture, and three-dimensional tumor modeling. She is particularly focused on advancing living biobanks and standardized biospecimen practices that support precision oncology and biomarker development.
